Cervical Transforaminal ESI

The cervical transforaminal ESI, also known as a nerve block, concentrates steroid delivery by placing the needle alongside a cervical nerve as it exits the spine, so that anti-inflammatory medication can travel up and into the cervical epidural space from the lateral position.

Pain management specialists may modify this type of Epidural Steroid Injection to target single cervical nerves, which can decrease pain in the head, neck, shoulders, arms or hands.
