John M. Stamatos, MD
John M. Stamatos, MD, is the Director of Pain Management at Syosset and Plainview Hospitals. He also serves as a pain management specialist at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.
Dr. Stamatos attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York where he graduated magna cum laude. He completed his medical training at the Uniformed Service University of Health Sciences and his residency in anesthesiology at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Stamatos is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management as well as a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He also has a medical certification in acupuncture and is a licensed marijuana and suboxone provider.
Dr. Stamatos is distinguished as one of America’s pioneers in spinal cord stimulation and MRI safety. He was the first physician in New York to provide the only implantable SCS designed for full-body Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) safety. Dr. Stamatos has authored the bestselling books, Pain Buster and Living Your Life Pain Free in addition to publishing several articles related to pain management. He also is a member of several medical societies including the American Neuromodulation Society, American Society of Pain, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, International Anesthesia Research Society and International Association for the Study of Pain.
